On November 25th, Aspen Ladd and Julia Budd will be fighting on the PFL 10 main card. Both women predicted this fight to be “fireworks,” while acknowledging that this fight will not be the classic grappler vs striker match up. There are two mixed martial artists in that cage, anything can happen.
"Been There Done That" attitude
Having recently signed to the PFL, this will be Aspen Ladd’s debut to the promotion. Earlier in her career, Aspen found success in Invicta FC and acquired back to back bonuses inside the UFC. She even recalls watching her opponent fight when she was a teenager. Recently moving up in weight, she feels healthier and stated that whatever the course of her career may be, it’s going to be at 145. But also mentioned moving up to 155 if the opportunity was presented. This fight will air on the main card before the 2022 Tournament Championship Finals. Walking into this fight she has a “been there done that” attitude going into the week. She’s fought in front of big crowds, she’s had big media days, she has experienced the best and the worst. There is nothing she isn’t ready for. Aspen’s “Why” is simple; she does this for freedom. The freedom to do what makes her happy and to not be tied to anything or anyone holding her back.
PFL is a "Breath of Fresh Air."
Julia Budd is a veteran of woman’s mixed martial arts. Her career started in Strikeforce, Invicta FC, and Bellator. She is a four time world champion, with most of her losses only coming from the best of the best; Rousey, Nunes, and Cyborg. Having already fought for PFL, Budd refers to their structure as a “breath of fresh air.” Always knowing when you are going to fight and knowing their is a roster full of girls ready to fight her brings peace of mind. Being a veteran, Budd spoke about how she is constantly forced to evolve in order to keep up with in this sport. Knowing that someone wants to beat her motivates her to go to the gym and keep improving daily. She focuses on visualization, making sure she has time to hike with her dogs, and spend time with friends and family to deal with all the hard aspects of fight camp. During our interview she mentioned that she would love a rematch with Cyborg, and as a fan that is a fight I would love to see in the future.
This fight has a “When your idols become your rivals” feel to it, a veteran fighting a hungry young athlete. This fight is going to be fun to watch.
